Donate on the Prestigious Day of Ram Navami

Ram Navami

The Hindu Spring festival of Ram Navami is celebrated throughout the nation of India. For all of us, this is a prestigious day because it’s the birthday of Lord Rama. And Lord Rama is the seventh Avatar of Vishnu. The birth of Lord Rama took place in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya. The festival falls on the ninth day of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of Chaitra, basically the first month of the Hindu calendar.

The day starts with Rama Katha and the reciter reads out the Rama stories. Some people visit temples and some pray within their homes, whereas some participate in a bhajan for kirtan and move forward with puja and aarti.

Some devotees also worship the miniature idol of the infant Rama, bathe him, wash his clothes and place him in a cradle. Charitable feasts and community meals are also organized. The festival is also marked by vrata(fasting).

RAMA: Ra stands for Radiance; Ma for me. Rama is the spark of light in my heart. Celebrating the inner light which is within each of us and can help us feel the divine light.

How can you honor Sri Ram on this day?

You can bathe and dress up the idol of Lord Rama and place it in a cradle to celebrate his birth.

Also, you can light up the lamp in front of the Lord.

Prepare a payasam and offer it to the Lord

Also, you can celebrate the occasion by distributing food to the nearby place.

Things to Keep in Mind If You’re Planning to Keep a Fast:

Eat fruits so that they can keep you healthy and hydrated all day.

Avoid using turmeric, red chilly powder and salt.

Also, a meal made of sago or sabudana can make you feel energetic. You can also try making khichdi, wada, or payasam.

Why is Ram Navami Considered as a Crucial Festival?

The festival is hardly one of the festivals that permits the lower castes to celebrate. It is also believed that keeping a fast can provide you with salvation.
